“Chirps” from the Media Center

Thank you for a very successful Book Fair
. We earned around $3000.00 and we really appreciate your support. Our volunteers were fabulous and we want to thank each one for the time they spent helping in the Book Fair. We could not do this project without them!

November will be a very busy month for us. On November 2nd we will have the author, Pam Alexander, from Vidalia, Georgia with us. We will also have “Farm Dress” day and encourage everyone to dress in farmer attire. Ms. Alexander and Rhonda Frost Petty are Georgia teachers who have created Be Sweet Publications. It was created to teach children geography and history of Georgia. They use children's books featuring a fictional character who visits real life places. The character's name is "Yumion." He is a walking talking Vidalia® onion. Our students will have a chance to purchase these “Yumion” books and have them autographed by Ms. Alexander. You will receive an order form toward the end of this month to choose books you may want to purchase.

November 2nd will also “Kick –Off” a Reading Promotion the media center is sponsoring for all grade levels. Each teacher has details and will carry this out in his/her classroom.

November 13 – 19 is Children’s Book Week. Our theme is “…And on the farm they read some books, E-I-E-I-O”! Many activities have been planned and we are looking forward to a great week!

We would especially like to thank our “every day” volunteers and our volunteer coordinator for the many things they do to help us in the media center. We think you all are terrific!

“Fall into Books” this season and have a great time reading together!
