Georgia on Our Minds
Created by Pat Costa

Introduction:  In 1732, on a grant provided by King George II of England, General James Oglethorpe led a small group of people, who were not able to pay their bills and were destined to go to debtor’s prison, across the ocean to the new country and a new start.  After many weeks the colonists finally settled on Yamacraw Bluff, near what is now known as Savannah.  Oglethorpe named this new colony Georgia in honor of King George II.

Georgia has grown much since then, but still remains a beautiful, yet sometimes unknown state, in our great country.  Now, this can change.  You have been given the opportunity to let children from all over the nation know all about our beautiful state of Georgia.
