Media Center – a great place to be !
At Crabapple Lane Elementary the media center is an exciting, adventurous place to be. Media center skills, special characters, and themes are used throughout the year to promote special events, to enhance students' interest in many subjects, to motivate students to read more, and to encourage students to use reference and technology sources.

Many incentives are used throughout the year to highlight reading in the entire school. Some of the activities sponsored by the media center this year include:

  • Scholastic Book Fairs: ( 1 in the fall/ 1 in the spring)
  • Orientation with Jungle Jane James (cousin of Miss James)
  • Children’s Book Week
(A week filled with activities built around Children’s books, characters, and authors.)
  •  Visit with poet, Kenn Nesbit
  •  Six Flags Six Hour Reading Program
  •  Book It Pizza Hut Incentive Program
  •  “Crimson Tales from Crabapple Lane” storytime
  • Special visits with Samson the monkey
  • Crabapple Lane News from 5th grade Broadcast Team
  • Other exciting events to be announced

The Media Center provides an open, flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the students and teachers.

Volunteers are an integral part of Crabapple Lane. A very strong group of parents work with the media center staff to complete tasks in the media center and to help carry out activities planned for the school.  If you would like to be a media center volunteer, please contact the media center.
